The State Theater
A Creative Community Space
A mixed-use redevelopment of the historic State Theater, located at 19 South Fountain Avenue, Springfield, OH.
What?
Imagine:
An adaptive re-use of the historic State Theater teeming with a new generation of interactive audiences, creating fresh new experiences and lifelong memories.
A collaborative community interlocutor between COhatch and Mother Stewart's that expands IndieCraft, Mother's Bluegrass Revival and the Springfield Jazz Blues Festival with multiple stages around the DORA and headline shows at The State Theater.
A date night screening of “Casablanca” paired with gin martinis and a coupe of champers with a dash of bitters, sugar and cognac. Or a screening of "Star Wars" with a pitcher of Jawa Juice.
A touring or local jazz, hip hop, rock, country or bluegrass band playing to a full house of fans with kinetic video imagery projected on the giant movie screen and live streamed around the world.
A silent disco party with a state of the art light show.
A classic cinema themed wedding reception with red carpet roll out and a "movie premiere" featuring the newlyweds.
An elegant bar that serves late night craft cocktails and flatbread pizza.
A movie marathon featuring “It’s a Wonderful Life”, "Miracle on 34th Street" and "Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer" during Holiday in the City.
A student run film festival showcasing works from various media departments in schools from around Clark County.
A calendar of Greek life functions hosted by the Panhellenic Chapters at Wittenberg.
A competitive video game tournament battled on the giant movie screen by area youths.
A bleeding edge Zoom and Podcast studio.
A creative lab space for multimedia students and freelancers generating fresh ideas, testing new apps and incubating visionary business opportunities.
A state of the art environment for your next sales meeting or organizational retreat.
A "cooler than the coolest" place to host your company party or class reunion.
WHO?
A group of life-long Springfield residents who hold significant memories of the State Theater, who have a passion for positively impacting the vibrancy and quality of life in downtown (and the community as a whole) has taken ownership of The State Theater and are making a significant investment in the preservation and adaptive re-use of the building for community purposes.
In addition, a group of Springfield entrepreneurs who currently own and operate multimedia and bar businesses (contributing to the cultural, entertainment and artistic renaissance in our community) are making a significant operating investment in video, sound, hospitality, internet and lighting infrastructure.
These two groups are developing a building improvement plan, a long-term leasing arrangement, a creative vision and programming schedule that will bring vibrancy back to the State Theater and contribute to the growing arts and entertainment scene downtown.
